Weekly Update 3/21/25

Posted Date: 3/21/25 (6:30 PM)

Durgee Families,

I hope this message finds you well as we welcome the start of spring! We have several exciting events and updates to share this week.  Here are just a couple of notes as you enter into the weekend.

Music in Our Schools Month

March is Music in Our Schools Month, and we’re thrilled to celebrate the incredible talent of our student musicians! Please note that the Durgee Orchestra concert has been rescheduled to Monday, March 24th, at 7:00 PM in the Baker Auditorium. Our students will be performing alongside the Ray and Baker orchestras, making for a fantastic evening of music. We hope to see you there!

March Madness at Durgee

March Madness is in full swing at Durgee! Students in Mrs. Holmes’ 8th-grade journalism class kicked off their sports unit by creating team profiles for each college competing in this year’s tournament. In addition, more than 100 students and staff members have joined our school-wide bracket challenge. It’s been a fun and engaging way to bring the excitement of college basketball into the classroom!

Student Council’s Candy Care Package for Soldiers’ Angels

Durgee’s Student Council is collecting candy donations for Soldiers’ Angels, a nonprofit organization that supports service members and veterans. The donated treats will be included in care packages for deployed troops and shared with veterans at VA hospitals during special events. This is a wonderful way for our students to express gratitude for those who serve. Thank you to everyone who contributes to this thoughtful initiative!

Durgee PTSA Teen Skate Night – This Saturday!

Looking for a fun night out? Join us for Durgee PTSA’s Teen Skate Night fundraiser on Saturday, March 22nd, from 7:00-9:00 PM at Skate N Place! This is a great opportunity for students to take a break from their screens, enjoy time with friends, and support PTSA programs. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online via the PTSA Facebook page or at the door. We hope to see many of our students there!
Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in the Durgee community. Wishing you all a great week ahead!

Have a great weekend!
